Volcanic Air Safaris - White Island Active Volcano Tours

TOUR 4 - White Island
Active Volcano

White Island lies 50 kilometers off the coast of the Bay of Plenty. It is New Zealand's most active volcano and one of the only assessable island volcanoes in the world, it carries a Grade A classification of international scientific importance.

White island is believed to be 150,000 - 200,000 years old. Although the volcano reaches 31 meters above sea level, its full height from the sea floor is about 760 meters.  Visible above the sea the island measures 2.4 km by 2 km.

Today it is possible to visit White Island as a tourist with Volcanic Air Safari's White Island scenic flights. While on your White Island volcano tour, witness its remarkable features first hand. The bright yellow sulphurous vents, the smell of the volcanic gases and rumbling of the inner earth under your feet provide a unique experience.
