Departing from our central Rotorua Lakefront base, your floatplane lifts gently from the water, taking you high above the Rotorua Lakes District. Enjoy spectacular views of Lake Rotorua, the steaming shores of Sulphur Bay, Mokoia Island, and the lush greenery of the surrounding landscape as you fly toward Lake Rotoiti—one of Rotorua’s most picturesque and peaceful northern lakes.

Your pilot will perform a smooth water landing and taxi the aircraft to a quiet, secluded beach. Once safely ashore, you’ll be left in complete privacy to enjoy 70 minutes in this breathtaking setting. Swim in the clear, calm waters, cast a line and try your luck fishing, or simply stretch out on the sand and soak in the serenity. With native bush behind you and crystal-clear waters in front, it’s the perfect place to unplug and unwind.

This experience is designed to be as flexible as you like. Pack your own picnic or, for a more elevated option, pre-order a gourmet grazing platter (available at additional cost). When your time at the lake draws to a close, your pilot will return to assist with packing up and help you board the waiting floatplane. On your return journey, take in a new perspective as you soar above Lake Rotoiti, the winding Ohau Channel, Lake Rotorua, and Mokoia Island. You’ll also catch aerial glimpses of Mount Tarawera, Ngongotahā, and the full expanse of Rotorua City below.

Requirements: This flight operates with a minimum of 2 adult fares

Recommended: Please note only small backpacks are permitted on board. Bathing suit and towel are optional (not essential). Guests are welcome to bring a camera.

Children: Under 2 free of charge. Children 2-11 years pay a child fare (75% of the adult fare)

Safety: A full safety briefing as well as safety equipment will be provided at the Volcanic Air Base. All passengers will be required to be weighted in order to ensure proper weight distribution in the aircraft.
