Embark on an extraordinary floatplane adventure in the heart of Rotorua, New Zealand. Your journey begins with a thrilling takeoff, and as you soar up you will be treated to unparalleled views of Rotorua City and Lake. Mokoia Island takes center stage and your pilot will provide commentary about it’s current role as a native bush and bird sanctuary (home to more than 40 pairs of Kiwis!). This protected bird haven is not only a testament to New Zealand’s commitment to conservation but also holds a significant place in Rotorua’s history. Catch a glimpse at some of the other 17 lakes around Rotorua over the ridge line as your pilot explains Lake Rotorua’s position in a (very) old volcanic caldera.

Your adventure continues as your fly over Sulfur Bay, where 60,000 liters of sulfur naturally pump into the lake every hour, providing a beautiful contrast with the blue waters of Lake Rotorua. Enjoy the geothermal activity from above, and take in the streets of Rotorua before your plane begins it’s gentle descent back land on the water and taxi back to the jetty.
