Departing our City Lakefront pier, experience the thrill of a floatplane take off before climbing around Mokoia Island, on track to our hidden lakes district and the Volcanic Peaks of Mount Tarawera. At 1111 meters in elevation, this majestic volcano dominates the surrounding landscape and plays center piece to the stunning 14 lakes around it’s base.

Above Tarawera views of cavernous craters reveal the power of what was the largest eruption in New Zealand’s living memory. The 1886 eruption created a 15km volcanic rift line,  which we will fly you over, ending with spectacular aerial views of the Waimangu Volcanic Valley. Take in the steaming cliffs and its vibrant Inferno Crater and Frying Pan Lake.

Return to Rotorua via Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake) and Lake Rotokākahi (Green Lake) – it is from the air that you can best appreciate why these names are so fitting – as well as flying over the Whakarewarewa forest and thermal reserve. Your trip will end flying over Rotorua City and the Skyline before landing again on Lake Rotorua.
